Every union officer managing staff needs to have an understanding of their health and safety responsibilities. Managing Safety, run by GFTU in partnership with IOSH, provides full step-by-step guidance which aims to engage and inspire in order to embed the principles of Health & Safety right across the Trade Union Movement. The two day course is designed for union officers and staff working across any sector of their respective union. It aims to get participants ‘up to speed’ on the practical actions they need to take to tackle the Health and Safety issues that they are responsible for, within a single programme.

The course covers: • Assessing risks • Controlling risks • Understanding responsibilities

• Understanding hazards • Investigating incidents • Measuring performance Successful participants will be awarded the IOSH Managing Safety certificate.
