EC PAPERS NOVEMBER 2017

Staff Pay.

31 The Head of Finance has undertaken some modelling based on different pay increase levels at the GFTU. For GFTU staff for the sake of beginning the discussion I will make a proposal at the meeting. 32 The General Secretary’s salary was due for regrading review last year but this was not undertaken. The President and Vice President are undertaking this work.

Unions using Quorn.

33 I am pleased to report that UNISON, NEU and CWU will all be using Quorn for the first time shortly for prestige national events. UNISON Bradford have circulated 10,000 leaflets to their members advertising our new year offer.

ICT Policy.

34 A draft of our new ICT Policy document is attached for reference. This will be agreed by the SMT. Other key policies like Staff Handbook, Finance Policy are subject to internal annual SMT review.

End of Year EC.

35 Jeremy Corbyn is actively considering our invitation to our end of year dinner. Obviously we appreciate the unpredictable pressures on his diary.

Work for Shadow Treasury team

36 Meetings have been held with the Shadow Treasury team to consider joint education work and use of Quorn.

Awards.

37 Our gardens one first prize in the regional competition again and the nursery received a Good Ofsted report.

TUC

38 Our TUC Presence costs all in around £26k. Discussion on future activities and perhaps at the Labour Party also should take place.

Pension Scheme

39 The EC’s proposed new structural arrangements of governance were passed at the Pension Scheme meeting by 3 votes to 2. A new deed will be written up. 40 The Pensions investments are doing well and the Head of Finance will attend the fund managers’ seminar in November to monitor trends.

Union Building Conference.

41 Because of pressures of other work we remain behind on planning. The event will be held at Yarnfield on Feb 25/26. We should aim to make it a major event. The cost price Friday lunch to Sunday lunch all inclusive is £200 delegate. I propose that we make subsidies available for unions who may want to send a good sized delegation but who are unable to.
