British Red Cross Training Courses First Aid skills can help to save lives and prevent accidents in the workplace

Unions – just like any other organisation – need to comply with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations Act of 1981, which governs the provision of first aid by an employing organisation to its staff. These regulations apply to all workplaces, regardless of size or the number of staff. Trade Unions must ensure that where their needs assessment indicates that they require first aiders, they receive training that will help them to learn the first aid skills they need, leaving them feeling confident that they could respond to an emergency. Unions should choose a training provider that they can trust and this is why GFTU has forged a partnership with the British Red Cross, the leaders in First Aid training and acknowledged by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as a standard setter for First Aid at work, training and practice.
