the world, then a couple of months passed and we are the fifth wealthiest

country in the world, then it was the sixth wealthiest country in the world. Blow

me, last week I heard somebody say we are the seventh wealthiest country in

the world. It seems to me we are going downhill.

As a Labour Party member and as somebody who voted for Corbyn and would

continue to vote for him (Applause) . I always remember when I was at

university quoting to my politics tutor, “Ted Heath says democracy is only any

good if you’re winning” and that is the philosophy of the Tories. They are

blatant in terms of how they are going to win control. That is what they want,

power. They do not care how they get it, but that is what they want and when

they are in power they are blatant in their need to protect and help their class.

That is what they believe in and that is what they always go for. Theresa May

is exactly the same. She went to the grammar school just half a mile away

from where I live. I don’t think it did her much good, mind you, because I think

in reality she is a dreadful, dreadful woman and I cannot understand why the

whole country do not actually see that. Her strength is a weakness that she will

not even debate with Jeremy Corbyn, the bloke that she thinks she beats in the

House of Commons every week at Prime Minister’s Question Time when she

can never answer the questions that he asks and she has a sneering, jeering, I

won’t tell you what I think of them, but they are behind her and they know what

they are at, they know what they are at. They are looking after their class.

The problem is that, yes, she stole a real gain in terms of saying, “We are not

going to have a snap election” and then, blow me, there it comes. The problem

for the Labour Party is we have been infighting, constantly infighting in public. I

do not know whether I am too old fashioned as a trade unionist, but I believe

you fight within the family and you make your decisions and you come out

together! (Applause)

BRO JOHN FRAY: So while we have been doing this infighting, these people that

actually have been put in Parliament because of all the hard work that the

Labour Party members have done on the streets canvassing, going out and
