GFTU BGCM 2019 Minutes
keeping reserves and it was damaged because nobody expected us to get this
financial fraud.
BRO DEWI HUGHES (AEP): Just to clarify that, what percentage is it? Are you
aiming for 100% of the costs of the GFTU for a year or something less than
that?
THE PRESIDENT: Yes, that is right. It was two years’ worth of costs, I am not sure
in percentage terms what that would be, of the running costs of the GFTU, of
the Federation. It will be 100% for two years. If we had not replenished it, that
would have cleared us, so it was a stop gap.
BRO DEWI HUGHES (AEP): Thank you.
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you very much. We had to have two years because
various restrictions were on us, the Charity Commissioners not least, because
the EC is a charity. Any other questions on the finances, please? (No
response) Okay. I have just been told that the tea and coffee is ready so we
can stretch our legs and have a comfort break. Shall we take 20 minutes?
Thank you.
The meeting adjourned for tea
THE PRESIDENT: Okay, so let’s proceed. We are going to hand out the wording of
the motion that was misprinted in the actual booklet. This is Motion 9. It will be
heard tomorrow, but just so you can have a read through it, make sure you put
it in your book and bring it with you tomorrow. Then we actually have one that
was not printed on the running order. It is in the booklet. We are going to hear
that this afternoon. That is Motion 11 from the Social Workers Union. It is
short notice. They have stepped in to fill the gap this afternoon. Thank you,
John and colleagues, for that.
Let’s talk now about the implementation of the resolutions of the last
conference, the last BGCM in 2017, so I will invite Ronnie Draper of the Bakers
Union to give a report.
