November EC Meeting 2019

prepayment non-refundable packages. Throughout the month we have extensively flexed the rate in line with local competitors this has helped us to maintain the occupancy with the additional 25 rooms. We continue to check competitor hotels price structure to remain competitive. The wedding market continues to build which improves cash flow due to the amount of deposits taken. We now have 77 weddings booked for 2020 following the recent wedding fayre. The Manor house Hotel (3 miles away) has recently opened a new venue for 120 persons but only has 12 rooms, I am meeting with the owner next week to tie up an accommodation package to assist both of us. 3) Food and Beverage -Throughout the month the food and beverage areas did not hit targets, introduction of new specials, 2 for 1 offers, winter menus will be undertaken throughout November and early December. The month was also hit by the loss of a wedding. Food and beverage stocks were well controlled with a food GP of 66% and Beverage GP of 69% and a surplus of £600.

Forecast for November

1) Occupancy is positive first 14 days of the month currently at 60% and I am forecasting 65% against the forecast of 68% and average room rate of £66 in line with the forecast. We hope to complete by the end of the month. We have a strong conference and event segment for the rest of November and with combined flexing and additional food and beverage activities expect to reach forecast.

Forecast for December

Occupancy is currently at 32% with nearly all Christmas functions and New Year’s Eve parties full, with balance of deposits due this month. Forecast of 62% and ARR of £58 expected to be achieved

Forward actions

1) Working with the team to increase Food and beverage. 2) Continued work to build the occupancy from local corporates and continued promotions for the OTAs. 3) Increased Sales activities for January and February to achieve forecast.

HR.

The audit of Hotel HR Records was shared at the recent Hotel Directors meeting. As part of the conversation it was agreed that we should discuss with Doug the purchase a Kroner computerised HR Module for small businesses to streamline the capture, recording and report of absence and holiday records across the organisation.
