Hotel Directors Meeting March 2020

Why is this important: Co ordination, leadership, planning, strategy. Accountability to Directors is paramount so that there is a collective approach to development and that ideas for growth and tackling problems can be shared. An expanded hotel does not mean more of the same. It is not business as usual. All of the assets of the GFTU are now tied up in Quorn.

Agenda and notes of SMT meetings are sent to Doug, these will now be shared with Directors.

Other related meeting notes and reports etc will be attached (as mentioned earlier in report).

14 Disability lift.

The lift to the bar area is permanently out of order. The first thing you see coming into the building is a sign saying out of order on a disability lift, this message is not good. It is never clear what arrangements are made for its proper use. Why is this important: we have a legal duty to comply with the DDA. We want to welcome disabled guests. Quote updated and PO raised 3 weeks ago, work to repair is in the pipeline and due to be completed next week.

15 Room 26.

It was agreed that a business plan for use of the room would be submitted. This is awaited.

Why this is important. We need to squeeze every business opportunity out of the building.

Tim has produced a set of proposals which are attached. 6/3/20: Tim has provided a PDF version.

16 Meadow.

It was agreed that in early 2020 proposals would be considered for maximising income from our external areas.

Why this is important. We need to squeeze every business opportunity out of the building.

Tim has in hand. Ian suggested camper van or camp site, there is also a possibility for Caravan storage? 6/3/20: being incorporated into the LPL work.

17 Loan.

It had previously been agreed that a red flag would be raised well in advance of a loan actually being needed. On this occasion it wasn’t there was an impromptu meeting after my Christmas meal. The loan was requested on the basis that wages, (again) had to be paid and it would give an opportunity to clear all creditors and begin the new year with a clean sheet. The work to get agreement for a loan of this order is considerable and there does not appear to be a recognition of this.

The loan has been made with strict conditions attached.
